I understand that 1080p videos requires certain computer requirements but I am more than the requirements. Why does it still lag?

My specs.
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ @2.63Ghz (OC-ed)
2GB PC5300 DDR2 RAM
GeForce 8600GT 256MB (OC-ed)

I know it sounds stupid but try defragmenting your hard drive. It makes things lag less sometimes wink.gif

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Did it about a week ago already. I don't think it would get so fragmented in that short amount of time wacko.gif

yeah it can also be a codec prob. which monitors are you using and which players?
hmm if you watch a 1080 p movie over a bluray player then is the lcd panel IMPORTANT.
but you watch it on pc so may you have only an another problem.
best player for me is VLC player

ahh and for sure if your file is mkv or sth then you have to dll the HAALI media spliter. without that it lags!

I'm watching it off my harddrive and my monitor is a Chimei 19" LCD. I have CCP installed. Is the Haali media splitter you speak of included in it?
Also, my harddrive is a SATA harddrive so I doubt read speed is a problem but just to make sure, how do I check the speed of it?

I just experienced the lag when I watch a HD video by using Media Player Classic.
But, with Windows Media Player, it's lag no more, that's quite confusing for me.

Oh! I was using MPC! Damn, I just deleted the HD video so I can't try it anymore but subs doesn't work for WMP for me, only MPC and I have CCP installed. The subs are soft coded. Seems like the reason is because VobSub doesn't want to run when I start WMP.

install a recent version of ffdshow and Hali media splitter, then you are able to play x264 (in mkv) files in WMP and ffdshow allows you to chose external subs if the mkv dosen't contain any.

:EDIT:
As for your primary problem I also have problems watching HD x264 videos that have a bitrate higher than 8000kbps. I'm sure it's because of my singe core pentium IV 3ghz, but since you have a dual core cpu I can only guess that your problem is that you have a decoder that is not supporting dual core cpu's, but it's a lame guess.

I just reinstalled CCP. I assume they have the latest codecs. How do you configure ffdshow to show the subtitles? The subtitles are within the mkv but they only work if I open the mkv with MPC because Vobsub will run. I right clicked ffdshow at my taskbar when my WMP is playing the mkv but I can't find any option to display the subtitles.

when I open my mkv's there is a Haali media splitter icon(white, blue and black) in the tray, right click on it and I see the subs that are included in the mkv. Chose one.

Well, there's no more lag with WMP but soft subs can't be enabled on WMP despite it being selected at Haali already. Is there anyway to force Vobsub to work with WMP?

Edit: Problem solved. biggrin.gif The default settings of CCP did not enable Vobsub loading when I open WMP. Seems like I overlooked it the first time.
